- While the April tax filing deadline has passed, our work continues throughout the year. If you requested a tax filing extension, your income tax return is due by October 15. It's important to remember that a filing extension gives you additional time to file your tax return—it does not extend the time to pay any taxes owed. Any tax due should have been paid by the original April 15 deadline to help avoid interest and possible penalties.
- If you filed an extension and still need to complete your return, don't wait until the last minute. Filing early gives you time to gather any missing documents, address questions, and ensure you meet the deadline. While, also keeping interest and penalties lower.
